Unpaid leave

Unpaid leave
How you can structure your insurance coverage

Are you planning a career break, for example for further training, travel abroad, rest and recuperation, or caring for relatives? Please note that pension fund insurance coverage remains unchanged during unpaid leave unless a different arrangement is reported in advance. However, you have the option of interrupting the coverage in full or in part.

Unchanged continuation of the current benefits coverage

In the case of unpaid leave, the current benefits coverage will continue unchanged unless a corresponding notification is submitted. Insurance coverage remains in full as before. Both savings and risk contributions are continued unchanged. If this option is desired, no notification is required and no further action is necessary.

Important

The contributions will be charged in full to your employer, who will settle with you how they are to be divided.

Continuation of current risk insurance coverage

Savings contributions are suspended during unpaid leave; only the risk insurance continues at the previous level. Interest will continue to be paid on the retirement assets.

Important

  • The duration of the unpaid leave must be reported to us before it begins (minimum one month, maximum 24 months).
  • The amounts (risk contribution and administrative costs) will be charged in full to your employer, who will decide directly with you how they are to be divided.

Procedure

  1. Your employer will notify us in writing of the duration of your unpaid leave before it begins.
  2. Your employer receives a schedule of benefits and contributions. The updated insurance certificate will be sent to you directly.

Waiver of continued risk cover

During the interruption, there is no entitlement to risk benefits except for the lump-sum death benefit. No savings, risk, or cost contributions shall be levied during the interruption period. Interest will continue to be paid on the retirement assets.

We recommend that you take out interim AIA insurance for the duration of the unpaid leave.

Procedure

  1. Your employer will notify us in writing of the duration of your unpaid leave before it begins.
  2. Your employer receives a schedule of benefits and contributions. The updated insurance certificate will be sent to you directly.
